Leads Cast For The Producers

A Shropshire drama group has completed a hard fought audition process to find the leads for its next production Mel Brook's famous musical comedy The Producers.

Mad Cow Productions is the first amateur group to perform the hit musical in the county after the rights were released to amateur groups at the end of last year.

The show will be performed at Shrewsbury's Theatre Severn from May 19th to 21st.

Alex Hinton, the group's Director, said: "Finding the right people to play the leads in this huge Broadway show was no easy task. There are months of hard work ahead but we are confident that the show is in safe hands."

Max Bialystock is being palyed by James Archer 24, of Bayston Hill. Mr Archer is completeing his teacher training at Shrewsbury College of Arts and Technology where he teaches performing arts.

Leopold Bloom is being played by James Pinches, of Monkmoor. The 19 year old is a student at SCAT.

The unusually titled Ulla Inga Hanson Benson Yonson Tallen-Hallen Svaden-Swanson is being played by Melissa Wellington, 25. The Meole Brace resident is a senior receptionist at Rowton Castle Hotel. "I feel very privileged to be cast," she said.
