"award winning theatre company"

Allo Allo - The Crew

The Mad Cows were ably assisted by:

Assistant to the Director: Hollie Whittles

Hollie Whittles (née Cresswell) was born in Bewdley, Worcestershire and currently lives near Telford with her husband Alex and their two cats; Ronnie and playful kitten Gizmo! She has worked as a Retail Manager, IT/Skills Trainer, Software Tester and a Programme Manager. She is currently an IT Consultant for FraggleWorks (www.fraggleworks.com) which specialises in website design and internet consultancy.

Hollie got to know Alex and Lisa after playing in the orchestral pits of many shows in which they were performing. Post show one night, in the pub, she agreed to ‘fix’ a band of professional musicians who would play for nothing in their first Mad Cow production for the princely sum of a mince-pie. Incidentally she never received the mince pie but has continued to help out the Mad Cows turning her hand to being ‘Assistant To The Director’ and developing this web site ... maybe now she'll get that elusive mince pie!

Set Designer: Lucy Aylwin

Lucy is originally from London arriving in Shrewsbury via; Oxford, Wotton under Edge, Cheltenham, New England (USA), and Cardiff. Recently Lucy decided to take a year off to travel the world and she truly had the experience of a lifetime visiting; Russia, Mongolia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Australia and Chile.

With a BA (Hons) in Theatre Design Lucy worked in the field of Architectural Visualisation, creating realistic 3D computer models of architectural plans. (Though recently she has decided that a change in career is needed. Watch this space!) Lucy particularly loves the “Hands On” aspects of design which has led to many interesting side projects for example; a two week stint in the French Alps designing and painting abstract murals, and while in the USA commissions for murals from private individuals and The Connecticut Valley Railway, and of course designing, constructing, and painting sets for amateur theatrical companies.

Theatre Credits Include; Equus (In the USA), The Christmas Show (In the USA), Top Girls, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, The Beggars Opera, and most recently Thoroughly Modern Millie for the SAOS and ‘Allo, ‘Allo for Mad Cow

Lighting Designer: Josh Pharo

Josh is originally from Shrewsbury. He is currently studying Lighting Design at Rose Bruford College in London, graduating in 2010. This year he was the winner of a prestigious Lillian Bayliss Award for "displaying the potential to make a significant contribution to theatre".

He has worked for Alex and Lisa on several productions previously, including the successful “Noises Off” (Ashton Theatre) in 2008. Outside of Mad Cow Productions, he has worked across several different areas of the Lighting Industry, but his main focus is towards theatre, opera and dance lighting, with particular interest in site specific projects. He has worked on lighting teams both in the West End and also at the Royal Opera House, London.

His current credits include; Lighting Design: Noises Off (Mad Cow Productions), West Side Story (Viv Kelly Theatre Group), Me & My Girl (Viv Kelly Theatre Group), Pirates of Penzance (Shrewsbury Amateur Operatic Society), Blitz! (Viv Kelly Theatre Group), and Fire Raisers (New College, Telford). Sound Design: The Tempest (Shrewsbury Youth Theatre). Automation: Love in Transit (UK Opera Conference, Rose Bruford)

He is very much looking forward to working with Mad Cow Productions on their current and future projects.

Andrew Hinton

Sound Designer: Andrew Hinton

Andrew was born in Leeds, which he doesn’t remember, because his parents moved away when he was about 6 months old. He moved to Shrewsbury with the rest of his family in 1992, after a few years messing about on farms in rural Derbyshire (which he doesn’t remember much of either). In Shrewsbury, he has been educated at Prestfelde and then Shrewsbury School, before going up to Cambridge University in 2005. He is now officially a Bachelor of the Art of Natural Sciences (no, he doesn’t know how that makes sense, either). Apart from that, he is interested in quite a few things; a few of the more prominent might include politics (both UK and US), TV production, point ‘n’ click adventure games, Doctor Who, psychology (the natural science he ended up studying), and comedy. Perhaps most relevant to the present context is his interest in sound design, in particular for musicals, which give the operator rather more to do each night than plays do.

Theatre credits include: Sound Design: Hero (CUADC Production; Edinburgh Fringe, ADC Theatre), Once Upon A Time: The Footlights Panto 2007 (CUADC/Footlights; ADC Theatre), Into The Woods (Shrewsbury School; Ashton Theatre, Edinburgh Fringe, Linbury Studio), Noises Off (Mad Cow Productions; Ashton Theatre), The Changeling (Pembroke Players; The Round Church, Cambridge), Maskerade (BATS; Fitzpatrick Theatre, Cambridge), States of Shock (CUADC; ADC Theatre), Frozen (BATS; Fitzpatrick Theatre), Sweet Charity (FitzTheatre; Fitzwilliam Auditorium), A Funny Thing Happpened … (Mad Cow Productions; Ashton Theatre), Outdoor Summer Concert 2005 (Shrewsbury School; Central Lawn). Lighting Design: King Lear (Shrewsbury School; Ashton Theatre), Tumbling Tom Ashton (Shrewsbury School; Ashton Theatre).

She studied at BIHE and completed a foundation diploma in Art and Design with a merit. This was followed with a BA Hons in Animation at the North East Wales Institute in Wrexham. After graduating, she took a gap year in Australia where amongst her travels she also found time to work at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, and also as a trainee inbetweener on an internship at Walt Disney Animation Studios in Sydney.

Box Office: Eunice and Allen Scott-Evans

Owners of Jewell, situated on Wyle Cop, Shrewsbury. Jewell stocks wonderful, gorgeous, individual designer jewellery which is predominantly British made.

Eunice ventured south from Bonnie Scotland (Perth) over 20 years ago to work in the NHS in Shropshire, ranging from Chief Dietician at the Royal Shrewsbury to Public Health Specialist, working in Coronary Heart Disease and Smoking Cessation. Fast forward several years and Eunice leaves the NHS and buys The Goodlife Restaurant in Shrewsbury. There she meets Alex and Lisa – a life changing experience!! (Alex’s favourite dish: Spinach Moussaka. Lisa’s: Broccoli and Stilton Quiche). In 2006 Eunice sold The Goodlife and logically decided that the next adventure must be a jewellery shop!

Allen returned home to the Marches 16 years ago from an Arabian Nights odyssey working in hospital management in Jeddah. Swapping the sand dunes of Saudi Arabia for the green fields of Shropshire, he started working for the NHS in Shropshire and Staffordshire ranging from Planning Manager to Public Health Specialist but now enjoys the Jewell life with Eunice.

Back Stage Team

Property Mistress: Jackie Davies

Jackie spent her formative years in Minsterley and has lived in a variety of Shropshire’s villages all her life. Aged fifteen she decided that education wasn’t so important but money in the pocket was! For the next few years a series of “pay the bills” jobs passed by. Marrying young, Jackie had her lovely daughter Laura but continued with her unsatisfying job pattern. Then when she was employed at the Cliff Dale Nursing Home and as a nanny/housekeeper for a local family the idea of a new career formed. It took another five years, and a divorce, before Jackie was able to bring her dream to fruition. She applied for a Teaching Assistant post at Cruckton Hall School and for the last three years the education bug has well and truly bitten. Jackie has taken a NVQ level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification and is currently taking an OCN in Autism Awareness and (just to keep a pupil company) a GCSE in Geography! Her future aim is to take a NVQ level 4 so she can be an instructor to the children of whom she is so fond. Outside of school Jackie’s other passion is Am Dram, not on stage but back stage. Indeed, she claims that the huge fun she has as “Props” keeps her sane!

Michelle Hicken

Assistant Props: Michelle Hicken

Michelle has lived in Shrewsbury all her life where she attended the Wakeman School and Shrewsbury Sixth Form College (only for one year though). For the past 11 years she has worked at Burnt Tree Vehicle Hire as an IT Administrator. Married to Mike and with two young children, most of her time is spent cleaning away toys; she wishes her husband would stop taking them out of the play room!!! Needing a break from motherhood, Michelle auditioned for a role in Thoroughly Modern Millie (SAOS) and was cast in the role of Miss Dorothy. Here she met Alex and Lisa and discovered a real love of the stage, who knew hard work could be so much fun! Since then Michelle has also appeared as Emma in Jekyll & Hyde and has now been granted access back stage as assistant props (under Jackie’s wing).

Michelle is really looking forward to working with Alex and Lisa again and her future aim not to trip over back stage in the dark!

Stage Manager: Jeremy Tudor

A Graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Bath University Jeremy has been involved backstage in many theatrical productions. Mad Cow Productions is delighted to have him as their Stage Manager where his undoubted flair for organisation helps all those scene changes flow smoothly. It must be said however that we are a little worried that he lists among his life’s great loves a passion for… Billy Joel
